The CREATOR mini-program has been made possible by the INTERREG IVC and Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.



The province of Brescia is located in the Lombardia region in northern Italy. Lombardia has an area of 4 784 square kilometres and has 1,2 million inhabitants. Brescia, the capital of the province has 190 494 inhabitants. One of the most important tourist attractions in the region is the Garda Lake which is located on the eastern boarder of Brescia.
The province is characterised by an ageing population and a low birth rate. However, due to immigration and an increased birth rate the situation is slowly changing.
The two biggest sectors of the economy in Brescia are tourism and agriculture and as for entrepreneurship, there are 9 companies per 100 inhabitants in Brescia. Industrially, iron and steel are the two most important products.
The GDP in the surrounding region Lombardia adds up to € 33 900 per capita.
